DIMAPUR, JANUARY 8

The inaugural ceremony of the 26th Rotary Club 3240 conference “Hornbill” began on Friday, January 8, at the Urban Haat in Dimapur. Advisor to Chief Minister on Urban Development SI Jamir was the chief guest of the event.
Congratulating the Rotary family on their 26th conference, SI Jamir said that being a member of the Rotary Club was an achievement and that the club’s members have been ‘doing commendable works proving its existence ‘fruitful’ since the inception of the organization.
Lamenting the participation of Naga persons in Rotary Clubs, with just handful members, the chief guest suggested the Rotary members to focus on having more Naga members and more participation in the club as it will help in bringing positive changes in the society.
Expressing his concern at what he said was the current ‘communal disunity which is slowly showing its ugly face’ in the country, SI Jamir appealed to the Rotarians to give a serious thought over the problem. He said our country’s communal peace is disturbed which will ultimately lead to country’s disintegration and disunity among all classes and groups of people.
He said disturbed ‘communal element’ is the biggest challenge which should be eradicated as India is known as the home of world religion that necessitates the need for communal peace.
The inaugural program covered speeches from various prominent Rotarians from all over the country.
The conference which is being hosted in Dimapur, Nagaland for the first time has delegates from various parts of the country.
Rotarian Mohan Palesha while addressing the key note address spoke on ‘social sensitivity and Rotary’.
The formal inaugural program was followed by a cultural program covering various activities and interactions among the Rotarians from various parts of the country.
The three days conference hosted by Dimapur Rotary Club with theme ‘Hornbill’ will mark its conclusion on January 10.
