Rotary Club of Dimapur marks new year, plants saplings
DIMAPUR — The Rotary Club of Dimapur conducted an event called “Planting trees to make the world pollution free” on Monday to mark the beginning of the Rotary Year 2024–25.
According to a press release, the initiative also marked the installation of the club’s 53rd president. The new team will be headed by Rtn. Monoj Bhattacharjee, an educationist and social activist.
To commemorate the installation of the 53rd president, 53 saplings were planted, with the project overseen by Rtn. Pradeep Kr Goel.
During the event, the newly elected president highlighted the causes of global warming, the effects of deforestation, and climate change. He urged attendees to plant more trees and to serve as advocates for saving the environment.
Other speakers at the event included Rtn. Chandu Agarwal, PDG, and Rtn. Pradeep Kr Goel. The programme, which drew club members and environmental enthusiasts, featured the distribution of t-shirts and caps.
