Ronghang clarifies sexual allegation against him

Diphu, July 2 (EMN): Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member, Tuliram Ronghang issued a press statement regarding his sexual allegation case on Sunday. In his statement he said, ‘the news published in ‘Asomiya Pratidin’ Assamese daily on 01-01-2017 implicating me is completely false, fabricated and politically motivated.’ He further added that the news was published only to tarnish his image before the people on the eve of the constitution of KAAC. “As soon as the notice was issued for constitution of KAAC, the news was published to tarnish my image he said. “ he stated.
“Everybody knows that the police administration is under the control of Home Department of Government of Assam and the Autonomous council has no jurisdiction and power to interfere with the work of the police. Under the criminal justice system, the police have absolute power and authority to investigate the criminal cases and on the basis of the investigation the police are required to take action. The Diphu Police Station Case No. 199/2016 was registered on the basis of the complaint of sexual assault. The allegation levelled against me was duly investigated by the police and in the course of investigation.
The statement of the complainant/victim was recorded under the section of 164 of the Cr.P.C. In her statement the complaint on oath had stated before the magistrate she was threatened by some unknown persons to lodge the FIR against Tuliram Ronghang and she was under mental stress. She categorically denied she was sexually assaulted. The medical examination of the victim clearly mentioned that there was no sign of forcefully sexually assault.
The final report of the police was accepted by the session Judge of Karbi Anglong and the session judge passed a reasoned order 29-04-2017accepting the final report submitted by the police in Diphu P.S Case No. 199/16.
The victim/complainant has also appeared before the session judge and made the statement that she had accepted the final report submitted by the police and had no grievances in respect of the police report. All these facts are reflected in the order dated 29-04-2017 passed by the session judge. The session judge has passed the order after taking into consideration of all aspect of the matter.”
He also stated that as a citizen of India, he has full faith on the judicial system of the country and believed that justice has been done. The criminal justice system of India has provided the remedy to the aggrieved party and in this case the judiciary system has already decided the matter and came to the logical conclusion.
“Now it is proved that the allegation which was levelled against me was completely false and after the acceptance of the report of the police by the judiciary, the news was published only to tarnish my image.” he added.
