“I strongly condemn the vandalism of the building in Kohima which has NSF and ANCSU office and some shops. Respect for private and public properties is fundamental in a civilized society. I appeal to all right-thinking citizens to maintain peace and harmony,” Rio tweeted.

Condemning the act of vandalism, Deputy CM TR Zeliang in a press communiqué said that no one should take the law into their own hands. “There is a legal system in place and to take action based on our own personal judgement is wrong,” Zeliang said.

Appealing to all concern to be accommodative in their approach while finding ways and means to solve problems, he said such violent acts of vandalism will turn things from bad to worse.

Zeliang further called upon the law enforcing agencies to investigate and initiate action at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the Naga Hoho termed the incident as an attack on Naga legacy, history and traditions. “NSF office holds the Naga Political History, Sentiments and emotions of every Naga. And therefore, the attack is a murder to the future Naga generation,” the hoho said in a press release.

“The Naga Hoho condemned the barbaric act and appeal to the concern authority to immediately act against such perpetrators and award befitting punishment,” the hoho said.
