DIMAPUR— Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, and Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, have called on the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, in New Delhi on Thursday to discuss matters related to national highways in the state.
Taking to Twitter, the union minister said that they ‘conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the ongoing National Highway projects in Nagaland in the presence of higher officials’.
“Had a meeting with Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways. We assessed the ongoing National Highway projects in the State. Grateful for the opportunity to discuss key developmental works,” tweeted Rio.

He also updated that he had a productive meeting with the Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and DoNER, G Kishan Reddy, and discussed initiatives to boost development in Nagaland in line with the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE).
Zeliang, who is also the minister of Planning and Transformation and National Highway, has thanked Gadkari for the patient hearing. He went on to say that he had highlighted the ongoing agitation in Peren to the union minister.
“On the ongoing agitation by the Peren town CSOs on NH-129A, the Hon’ble Minister has directed to convene a meeting with the Director (Technical) NHIDCL Hq along with ED Kohima to sort out the issue of structural damage compensation in Peren Town portion,” he wrote.
