DIMAPUR — Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, will launch the digital training platform of Nagaland disaster management school safety policy on the occasion of 61st Statehood Day celebration on December 1.

Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and the department of School Education (DoSE), in partnership with NagaEd, undertook the initiative to provide a safer learning environment in schools in the state. The pioneering initiative is in compliance to the Supreme Court directives and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority’s (NSDMA) objective to create safer generation next by imparting training to the teachers both in government and private schools on school safety policy, which represents a significant advancement in fostering risk resilience in schools throughout Nagaland.

The innovative shift to a digital course format is a game-changer, expanding the reach to train an unprecedented 10,000 teachers from both government and private sectors, stated an update from NSDMA.

“This groundbreaking programme is more than just a training course; it is a commitment to safeguarding the future of our students, educators, and communities in the event of disaster. As we embark on this journey towards a new era of safety and preparedness in Nagaland’s educational landscape, we are not only enhancing the immediate environment of our schools but also fortifying the community at large against unforeseen disasters,” the statement read.

On the same day, Rio will launch the Nagaland Disaster Risk Reduction Roadmap (NDRR) at the Secretariat Plaza in Kohima.

It informed that the NDRR roadmap would be implemented by 33 line departments of the Government of Nagaland from 2023-2030 to achieve the targets of ‘Sendai Framework and Sustainable Goals of the State of Nagaland.’ It added that the thematic action plans developed by 33 government line departments would be implemented with support from 15% of the centrally sponsored scheme.
