Rhythm of Love: In conversation with WINTERWIND

WINTERWIND from Tobu is a rock/metal band comprising of five members with the frontman P. Obey Benjamin, John Wanmai on the Bass, Shillen Kaiba on the Guitar, Chungo Lembo on the Guitar and Ampe Crix on drums.
Their debut single “Freedom to our Land’ is a tribute/patriotic song dedicated to the Heroes who are sacrificing their lives for the cause of the people, it also conveys a message to every individual to eliminate social evils and injustice in our society.

EASTERN MIRROR: Let’s start off with a little background information. How did your band start off?
WINTERWIND: Two friends(Now guitarists) Shillen Kaiba and Chungo Lembo started playing the guitar and started composing songs and music and enjoyed the leisure time. It was during a cold winter evening the two brothers got deep down and discussed to form a band with the name WINTERWIND and approached John Vanmai(Now bassist), Obey Benjamin, the very Gem vocalist and Ampe Crix ( Now Drummer).
This is how WINTERWINND was formed in the year 2015. We hail from the Easternmost part of Nagaland called Tobu under Mon district bordering Myanmar(Burma). Despite of many hardships, limited electricity and facilities, WINTERWIND was formed to encourage the youngsters of Tobu who are really skilled and talented in Music.

EASTERN MIRROR: Who writes the lyrics in the band? What do the lyrics usually deal with?
WINTERWIND: All the members collectively write the lyrics.
Our main lyrical themes are based on Acts of Heroism, Eradication of social evils, Aspects of life and also includes Fantasm.

EASTERN MIRROR: What is your debut ‘Freedom to our Land’ all about?
WINTERWIND: “Freedom to our Land is a tribute/patriotic song dedicated to the Heroes who are sacrificing their lives for the cause of the people. It also conveys a message to every individual to eliminate social evils and injustice in our society.

EASTERN MIRROR: Being a rock band…. which world class rock band would you name the best for all time?
WINTERWIND: Being a rock/metal Band we prefer “Sabaton” a Swedish power metal from Falun to be an all time favourite Band.

EASTERN MIRROR: What dream tour would you love to be on with any past or present bands?
WINTERWIND: Since we are new, we do not have any particular band to mention about the tour. But we would love to join any Band from Nagaland when opportunity knocks.

EASTERN MIRROR: Your influences?
WINTERWIND: Our influences are Sabaton, Freedom Call, Edguy, Dream Theater and Manowar.

EASTERN MIRROR: What should fans look forward too for 2018 and beyond?
WINTERWIND: Hello to our Fans!!
Recently we have released our single music video on Youtube and audio on Indihut and we are receiving positive reviews. THANKS!!
We are glad to know that we have brothers and sisters who are standing by our side. We have lots of our original songs already made but now we are working on one new song which is going to be released sooner or later. So, keep supporting and stay tuned \m/
