Sweven, a four member group is a band from Pfutsero which was formed in the year 2013.
The band draws musical inspirations from progressive metal bands like Dream Theater to Christian metal bands like Stryper, Theocracy, Narnia, etc.
Sweven strongly believes that music has the power to connect with souls and the ability to express oneself through the gift of music.
The band comprises of Velhoukhro Venuh on the Vocals, Wekulhi Khupfu on the Guitar, Vekhosa Lasetso on Bass and Vekhoto Rose on Drums.

EASTERN MIRROR: A small introduction of ‘Sweven’ for those who haven’t heard of you yet.
Sweven: Sweven is a four-piece band formed in the year 2013. The band draws most of its musical inspirations from progressive metal bands like Dream Theater to Christian metal bands like Stryper, Theocracy, Narnia, etc. Sweven strongly believes that music has the power to connect with souls and the ability to express oneself through the gift of music. The band is currently based at Pfutsero and ever since its inception, the band has been performing in and around the state.
The band comprises of Velhoukhro Venuh on the Vocals, Wekulhi Khupfu on the Guitar, Vekhosa Lasetso on Bass and Vekhoto Rose on Drums.
EASTERN MIRROR: Your influences?
Sweven: The band is mostly influenced by the local music scene where the local artists are more into expressing their originality through their music. Of course internationally, the band credits bands like Dream Theater, Theocracy etc. who are the major influence in the making of the band’s music.
EASTERN MIRROR: What genre do you mainly focus on playing?
Sweven: Currently the band is not focused on any definite type of music genre but experimenting with different kinds of genre’s ranging from progressive metal to alternative Rock and power metal bands etc. Most of the song’s are lyrically based on the gospel music scene.

EASTERN MIRROR: Who composes for the band?
Sweven: The songs are mostly written by our Guitarist (Wekulhi Khupfu) but all the members contribute in the song making process.
EASTERN MIRROR: As a band, what is your Chemistry like? And who is the most mischievous/entertaining of all?
Sweven: So far the chemistry of the band has been great. Without a doubt, the most mischievous/ entertaining amongst us is our vocalist (Velhoukhro Venuh).
EASTERN MIRROR: When was the first time ‘Sweven’ played on stage?
Sweven: The band officially performed as ‘Sweven’ on Oct. 4 2017 during a concert organised by the KABCC Youth Department at Pfutsero.
EASTERN MIRROR: How often do you guys meet up?
Sweven: The band usually meets up every weekend
