Rengma Hoho reiterates its 2016 resolution on ULB election
DIMAPUR: The Rengma Hoho has re-iterated its 2016 resolution not to participate in the urban local bodies (ULB) elections until the state government ‘abrogate’ Section 120 and 123 “Tax on Lands and Buildings” in the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 through an amendment.
It said the decision was taken at its executive body meeting held at Oking, Tseminyu, on Monday, march 20.
“The Rengma Hoho and its frontal organisations shall restrain its members from participating in the town election within the Tseminyu district (if certain sections of Municipal Act 2001 are not abrogated). However, the Rengma Hoho stands on 74th Amendment Act 1992 (iv) ‘Reservation of seats’. The Rengma Hoho also expects the Government of Nagaland will not discount the special provision, Article 371 (a) of the Constitution of India,” read the press release.
