Rectification works along NH-2 in Wokha underway
WOKHA — Demolition and rectification works along the NH-2 (earlier NH-61) from KM 72.40 to KM 83 at Wokha town, commenced on Saturday.
The works started after a brief meeting was held at office of Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, on September 22, which was attended by the sub-divisional officer (NH), representatives of Lotha Hoho and TTC Infra (the construction firm).
The Joint Action Committee (JAC), spearheaded by Wokha Village Youth Organisation (WVYO), had earlier in a representation to the deputy commissioner on September 20, urged for initiating the works within 72 hours.
The organisation also asked the road construction firm to comply with all the 106 locations identified as “discrepancies,” such as land encroachment and non-utilisation of land, which were given compensation for the construction of the road.
In the meeting, DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, told the construction firm to start the works without delay, while the PWD (NH) was instructed to utilise the “compensated area fully for the project.”
