Reception committee formed for KYF 2022

A reception committee was formed for hosting the 48th edition of Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) 2022 in a meeting held at Taralangso in Diphu on Tuesday.

MLA and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Bidyasing Engleng was elected as the president, and Richard Tokbi as the general secretary of the reception committee through a unanimous agreement by the members in the meeting.

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang is the chief patron and Deputy Speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr. Numal Momin; MLAs Rupsinig Teron and Darsing Ronghang and Executive Members (EMs) and MACs as patrons.

Cutting across party lines and religion, the CEM asked everyone to work together in making the festival a grant success.

CEM Ronghang said the fare for the coming and going of artistes from various cultural zones would be borne by the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS). A budget allocation of INR 1 crore has been earmarked for holding of KYF and the amount will be handed to the KCS, CEM said.

Kamal Timung is the working president and former EM, KAAC, Surjyo Rongphar and Ashok Teron; Mohon Tisso; Ramsing Tokbi and MAC Seema Ronghangpi as vice presidents. Assistant secretaries are Daniel Bey, Laichan Engleng, Meerina Beypi, Diphu Municipal Board, Executive Engineer, Nipu Charan Dutta and Mirjeng Kro. Office secretaries were given to Longsing Rongpi, Govind Terang, Robin Teron and Babu Bey.

Various sub-committees will be formed in the next executive committee said KCS, President Chandrasing Kro.

During the meeting, the Souvenir Sub-Committee for publication of ‘Jutang Amanim’ in the 47th KYF, 2021 and the remaining amount of INR 30,000 cash was handed over to KCS president, Chandrasing Kro by the sub-committee president, Surjyo Rongphar and secretary, Joysing Tokbi. 

The five-day festival will commence from February 15 to the 19th.
