Rainfall expected in Nagaland over next week— IMD
DIMAPUR — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Nagaland, predicting widespread rainfall over the next seven days.
A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam in lower tropospheric levels, coupled with strong southwesterly/southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal, is expected to bring heavy rainfall to the state and other northeastern states, the IMD said in its All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued on Sunday.
The IMD forecasted fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) in Nagaland. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely on June 9, the 12th and the 13th, it said.
Similar weather patterns are expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next seven days, it said.
