Chetheba, Dec. 30 (EMN): Quality education is the need of hour, said Chotisüh Sazo, advisor of Social Welfare, while speaking during the 28th general session of Chetheba Town Students’ Union (CTSU) held at Chetheba Town Hall on December 30 on the theme “Call for change.”

Dr. Chotisüh Sazo, who was the chief guest of the session, noted with regret over existence of many educated unemployed youth in the state as they lacked quality education. He remarked that getting a degree is not enough.

Also observing that students fail to humble themselves when they have a degree, Sazo advised them to change their mentality and learn dignity of labour. He also asked the students not the seek government job alone but look for a career in what they could do and start earning their livelihood.

“You are the leader of the nation for tomorrow,” Sazo said.

Also pointing out that Nagas have the habit of criticising people and underestimate poor people, he urged the students to change the habit from within oneself in order to benefit the society.

Stating that students who are still at school have bright future, he called upon them to work hard in the endeavour and go for more competitive examinations.

Sazo concluded his speech by urging the students to follow Jesus by quoting the Bible verse from Mathew 6: 33 “But Seek ye the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you.”

The student of the year was awarded to Nuvekho Rhakho, a Class IX student of Chokri Baptist School, Chetheba.

Vevoto Tetseo, president CTSU, in his presidential address said the call for change is the primary need for every society to exist and compete with its contemporary. He called upon on the gathering to continue upholding each other and live in harmony in the best interest of the people.

Mezahu Medeo, vice chairman of Chetheba, in his short address impressed upon the youth to lead the way for the younger generation in their pursuit for knowledge. He lamented that compulsory education system at present lacked quality education and mentioned that a lot of students have degrees but they are unable to get jobs. Medeo called upon to seek knowledge and work hard in order to find a way to guide in their life.

The new office bearers were elected for the tenure 2018-20 with Zuvekhoyi Phesao as president and Sekhozo Rhakho as general secretary.
