With some exceptions the general and most common recipe of all tribes traditional dishes are being provided.
Featuring in todays editon is one of the common dishes of the Garos of Meghalaya of which they are recognized for.
Pura Khari (Powdered rice ) curry Ingredients:
Intestines or any meat- 250 grams
Powdered rice- 100 grams
Khar (soda)- A pinch
Ginger paste- As per required
Green Chilli-As per required
Salt to taste
Water
Kaku leaves (optional)
Ingredients:
1. Mix meat, soda, green chilli, salt and dry fry for about 5 minutes.
2. Add water to it and cook in a sim gas
3. Add the powdered rice into the cooking pot and keep on stirring (inorder to avoid lumps) and cook till the meat is fully cooked. “Good Morning Nagaland’! In today’s edition we’re showcasing a special recipe of the Garo tribe, contributed by Elina Sangma from Sadgaon West Belapara.
The Garos are the indigenous people of Meghalaya, India and are the second-largest tribe in Meghalaya after the Khasi, they comprise about a third of the local population.
Elina Sangma has been living in Dimapur, Nagaland for over 15 years, she is a house wife and presently resides at Indisen Village with her husband and three children.
