Public warned on misuse of bank accounts

Dimapur, April 13: Having observed on the increasing numbers of illegal transaction by criminals, State police has reminded all concerned not to share their account numbers in order to prevent fraudulent activities.
Superintendent of Police (Crime) today issued a statement on having observed that many bank accounts of Naga people especially students are increasingly being used by criminals for their fraudulent activities. It said illegal transactions using these accounts are being done from other states especially in big cities.
On many instances, it was observed that the bank account were being sold by students/youngsters to unscrupulous elements and big criminals for easy money without knowing that such accounts can be used to commit crimes. It said the original holders of the bank could also be implicated when a crime is committed by some persons using such bank accounts.
Stating that criminal activities had increased manifold despite advisory issued by the Nagaland Police in all the local dailies earlier, it cautioned the public not to involve in such activities.
Students leaving their place of studies after completion are also advised to close down their accounts unless they intend to continue using them. Public are also advised not to share their bank account details such as Account Number, ATM Card Number, Secret Pin Number etc and other personal details with anyone.
