Dimapur, August 4 (EMN): Public of Mangkolemba town have questioned the alleged ‘unreasonable’ rate of PHH and AAY food grains under Public Distribution System (PDS), which was fixed at Rs 5 by owners of two Fair Price Shops (FPS) in Mangkolemba town. The reason for hike in prices of food grains was non availability of the loading and unloading charges till date from the concerned department.
In this regard, representatives of Mangkolemba Town Council (MTC), All Ward Executive Committee, GBs, Mangkolemba Ao Lanur Telongjem (MALT) along with the two owners of FPS and Storekeeper of Food and Civil Supplies held a joint meeting on July 31. During the meet, various organisations have directed the FPS owners to sell the food grains under PHH and AAY at the government prescribed rate of Rs 3.
Meanwhile, MALT president Tia Jamir and the general secretary Sentimeren Imchen, on behalf of all the organisations, appealed the concerned department to provide the necessary charges/fees for loading and unloading to the FPS licensed holders, who are sandwiched between the department and the ire of the public.
It maintained that organisations in Mangkolemba will not allow selling of the aforementioned items at any rate other than the government/concerned department’s rates in future.
