DIMAPUR — The launch programme of the platinum jubilee celebrations of Pfuchatsumia Students’ Union (PSU), Kohima, on the theme ‘Golden past, envisioning a brighter future was held on Saturday at P Khel Council, Kohima village.

According to a press release, speaking at the programme, Kelhousetuo Rutsa, chairman of P Khel Council, stated that the theme is fitting for the pioneers and added that the vision of the elders to impart knowledge to the younger generation has propelled the union thus far.

Rutsa also commended the union for its commitment to running the “night school” despite numerous challenges. The chairman stated that many students have been benefiting from this initiative of free tuition and expressed hope that the union will continue it.

Reminiscing about the past, former president Meguo-o Mechülho reflected that even though there were not many educated people earlier, the union was formed by a few individuals to guide and promote the welfare of the upcoming student community. He expressed happiness at the progress the union has made.

The convenor of the platinum jubilee committee, Keneingu Rutsa, shared on the occasion the various programmes that will be held during the yearlong celebration, noting that a programme will be held every month.

The festivities will commence with the night school in March, followed by a leadership camp in April.
