Kohima, Dec. 29 (EMN): The 63rd session-cum-seminar of the Phek Students’ Union (PSU) was held on Thursday at Phek village community hall on the theme ‘Be rare, be extraordinary,’ with Imlibenla Wati Nienu and Nuthozo Hoshi, SDO of Electrical department, as the inaugural speaker and resource person respectively.
In her address, Nienu stated that failure and success are part and parcel of one’s life saying, “Failure taught a person more than success ever does.”
She advised the students and youth alike not be afraid of failure but rather pursue their goals and dreams with dedication, hard work, zeal and determination.
“The leaves, the branches, and the root are all part of a tree. The leaves and the branches move with the wind, changes their colours with the weather but the root remained firmly buried within the ground and keep the tree intact,” she said.
Nuthozo Hoshi, while speaking on ‘Be a torch bearer towards a new era,’ remarked that a torch bearer is someone who leads, inspires and set an example for others to follow.
“Both young and old possessed the ability to be a torch bearer, but to be a torch bearer, he or she has to be someone who holds true to his or her values and ideals that can inspire others,” Hoshi said. He added that youth are the greatest agents of change in the new era.
“Youth are filled with dreams and energy to pursue their goals and aspirations. Youths are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the leaders of today and in the age of technological revolution, youth are contributing immensely towards various social issues as they are able to grasp the current happening at the finger tips and work together for solution to the problems, which are particularly visible in social media,” he said.
In the competitive world, he said, one has to think outside the box, broaden one’s mindset and horizon and strive for knowledge and skills beyond the classroom teaching.
He further stated that education is about adding new knowledge to the already existing ones rather than discarding the old values and tradition.
“We are striving for identity, to be someone else’s inspiration that others can emulate and follow our footsteps. Do not misuse your free will, use it wisely,” he added.
Chairman of Phek Village Council, Kuzhoniecho Keyho, also shared greetings, while Visito Venuh, pastor of Phek Village Baptist Church, invoked God’s blessings for the session. PSU president, Vepo Soho, delivered the welcome address, while the general secretary, Tsiipolu Vero, acknowledged the dignitaries present on the occasion.
Shehuzo Hoshi, educational and statistical secretary, led in the felicitation of the meritorious students for 2022 academic year.
