Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): The Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) has expressed shock at the discovery of ‘government’s rampant appointments made on contract basis’ by the state government even after an office memorandum was issued on June 6, 2016 banning all ad-hoc/temporary/work-charged appointments.
A press release from the PSAN on Saturday stated that the state government has already made 32 appointments in 3 departments after June 6, 2016. “In the department of Higher and Technical Education, 18 assistant professors have been appointed on contract basis.
“In the department of Justice and Law, 9 assistant public prosecutors and one LDA-cum-computer assistant have been appointed. In the department of Art and Culture, 1 post each of assistant archivist, LDA, research assistant for Phom tribe, research assistant for Pochuri tribe have been appointed”, it informed. The July 6 memo, according to the PSAN, has been reduced to ‘a blatant farce’. “It can be seen as a complete betrayal of the people’s trust by the government by making rules and regulations that have meaning only on paper”.
Also responding to what it stated was “preposterous statements made by Mr Imkong L Imchen” in the aftermath of the PSAN’s peaceful protest at Kohima on July 3 last, it ‘applauded’ the minister for his ‘hypocrisy’.
“The whole of Nagaland knows the truth, hence, PSAN leaves it to the wisdom of the public to conclude on it. It was comedic for many people when he proudly declared that he had ‘never taken anything belonging to our young boys and girls.’ How about our future that looks bleak? How about justice that has not been availed to us?
“How about making backdoor appointments for political gains without providing opportunities to ‘our young boys and girls’ for free, fair and open competition?
How about trying to fool us through the June 6, 2016 P&AR office memorandum which your government does not have any intention to follow?”, the PSAN questioned.
