DIMAPUR — The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS, 2023), prohibiting gatherings of more than five people in the Chümoukedima-Peren border area.

The order, which came into effect immediately, was issued due to reports that there have been “instances of conflict and unrest in the area,” raising concerns about breaches of peace and law and order.

The order prohibits the carrying of lethal weapons and firearms, including lathis, daggers, machetes, sticks, spears, catapults, or any other dangerous articles, in the highway stretch from Vihuto Village to Khehoyi Village to Kiyevi Village and along the Chümoukedima-Peren border belt.

“This order shall come with immediate effect and shall remain enforced until further order”, the CP said, adding that it was “passed ex-parte due to security exigency” and will be displayed on notice boards of the district administration of Chümoukedima, DCPs, ADCPs, ACPs, and police stations.
