Jotsoma, Jan. 12 (EMN): President of the Naga Club, Krurovi Peseyie, was laid to rest at his native village Jotsoma under Kohima district on January 12.
According to family sources, Peseyie (84) passed away on January 11 at Zion Hospital in Dimapur after battling kidney and diabetic related complications. He is survived by his wife, two sons, five daughters and grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at Centennial Compound at Baptist Church Jotsoma (BCK) where Rev. Zakiebinyü Peseyie, pastor of BCJ, performed the last rites.
Peseyie was born to Nikhrielhu Peseyie and Medono. Being born just before World War II, his childhood memories relating to the ‘Great War’ in Kohima were vividly documented in his diary.
He was enlisted in the Indian Army in 1954 and served the nation till 1962. He was also on the board of directors at the Nagaland State Co-operative Bank in 1995. In 1996, he became the president of Angami Public Organisation (APO). He was also the vice president of APO and went on to hold the office of Western Angami Pastor Deacons’ Association as president.
From 1977 to 1998, he was a deacon of Baptist Church Jotsoma. He also served as a teacher at Government High School Jotsoma from 1962 to 1995.
He was also a member of the advisory board of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
Besides, he served the Nagaland State Ex-servicemen League as acting president and also held the post of president for Kohima Ex-Servicemen Union. He also served as the speaker of Naga Hoho in 1998. He was among the first group of advisory board members of APO from 2011 to 2014.
He was serving as the president of Naga Club till his demise.
