Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School celebrates Tagore’s birth anniversary
Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur, celebrated the 162nd birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore on Tuesday at its jubilee auditorium.
An update from the school stated that the programme began with the garlanding of the portrait of Rabindranath Tagore, which was followed by a welcome speech delivered by the school’s principal, Monoj Bhattacharjee.
It stated that Kamala Kanta Paul, a renowned social worker who is actively associated with the various social welfare organisations in and around Dimapur, was the special guest. It added that Paul offered tribute to Rabindranath Tagore and the late Manik Bhattacharjee, founder secretary of Vidyapith.
Paul elaborately discussed the life and contributions of Tagore and concluded his speech by thanking the principal, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and the audience at large.
On the occasion, the students presented one of the famous songs of Rabindranath Tagore ‘Ekla cholo ra…..’ Besides, dances were performed by Phylashone Muinao, Avni Devi, Anisha Jigdung, Eyilobeni Khuvung, Pinika Yepthomi, Lipavi Yepthomi, Vilokali Rochill, Avilyn Ayemi and Vilasenuo Razou students of higher secondary section.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the school’s vice principal, AK Ray.
