Power Dept. releases shocking list of defaulting government offices

Arrears of public offices amount to nearly 10 Crores

Dimapur, June 22 (EMN): In what could be termed as a major expose and embarassment for the Government of Nagaland for non payment of electricity bills by many of the public offices and government undertakings amounting to a tune of 9.55 Crores, the Chief Engineer of the Department of Power today has released the names of the top 100 defaulting government and quasi government offices in the State.

The list indicated that the top defaulting department to be the Home Department with its Administration and Police wings taking up most of places in the list.

The Diphupar Police Station tops the list with an arrear of about of 1.16 Crores that was accumulated till October 2016.

Coming in second is the the Dimapur office of the Nagaland Marketing Cooperative Federation Limited. aka Marcofed with an arrear about 91 Lakhs that was accumulated till February 2017.

Running neck to neck with Marcofed is a rest house of the Education department located at Dimapur which has an arrear of about 88 Lakhs accumulated till October 2016.

The other notable offices in the lists are Development Authority of Nagaland, NIDC Ganeshnagar, DC’s office Dimapur, Circuit House Dimapur, IRB Ruzhaphema, Kohima Municipal Copuncil, DC’s Office Kohima, State Data Centre and Agri Expo Complex Dimapur.
