DIMAPUR — The Poumai Naotumai Me Dimapur (PNMD) observed the ‘raising day’ of the Poumai Naotumai Me (Poumai Naga Women’s Union) at Poumai Baptist Church Chumoükedima on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, which also marked the 24th foundation day of PNMD, Leah Duo, Joint Secretary of Tenyimi Women’s Union, Dimapur (TWUD), stressed the need to improve social wellbeing.
She said social participation and contributions at various levels are vital for a society to grow. In this regard, she urged the gathering to actively participate and co-operate with various Naga civil society organisations as well as unite the people to grow together.
Highlighting health issues faced by women, she emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness and not undermining one’s health, both physical and mental. Getting medical treatment on time is necessary to avoid complications in future, she added.
Delivering the welcome address, Rone Troio, President of PNMD, lauded the members, mostly mothers, for keeping their work aside to discuss several pressing issues.
We should maintain our dignity and integrity as women, and support each other, she told the gathering.
Sarah Moses, General Secretary of PNMD, proposed the vote of thanks.
Valleyrose Philimon was the chairperson of the programme and Dinah Raymond was the secretary.
The event was also marked by cultural games and performances.
