Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): The Poumai Naga Union (PNU) has endorsed and extended full support to the proposed “Naga Solidarity Walk” organised by Global Naga Forum (GNF) on the theme “One People, One Destiny” on July 28 and the 29th.
In a press release issued on Friday, the Poumai Naga apex body stated that the upcoming ‘Solidarity Walk’ should be a wakeup call for every Naga to march forward with a clear conscience of love, peace and truth.
Welcoming the initiative, the union said that it is based on inclusivity, oneness, bridging of physical and emotional divide, and strengthening of brotherhood.
‘We appeal and urge every Naga across the globe to participate in this noble cause and it’s our humble prayer that this platform creates an epicenter of togetherness to fight our God-given rights,’ read the press release.
‘When we retrospect the journey of Naga freedom movement, we could see that our enemies had attacked and destroyed our legitimate freedom due to lack of unity. We realised that since the inception of our freedom movement, there were myriad ups and downs, sacrifices and betrayals, unity and divisions, integration and fragmentation, the courageous warriors and coward nationalist; and we have come this far due to God’s protection and promised,’ it stated.
While saluting those who had stood for the Naga freedom, the union said that time has come for the Nagas to accept the reality, that “Unity is the best strength to defend our rights”.
The co-ordination committee had earlier informed that the Naga Solidarity Walk would begin in Kohima on July 28 and cross Angami, Mao, Maram, and Poumai territories, before converging at Tahamzam (Senapati) on July 29. It added that event would be co-ordinated by GNF, All Naga Students’ Association of Manipur, Angami Students’ Union, Arunachal Naga Students’ Federation, Eastern Naga Students’ Association, Rengma Naga People’s Council, and Western Rengma Students’ Union Nagaland.
