DIMAPUR — The Poumai Naga Hoho Dimapur (PNHD) organised its Sports Meet Get-Together 2024 on Saturday at Chaveifii, Kiyeto village, with the aim of bringing together Poumais residing in Niuland, Dimapur, and Chümoukedima districts on the theme “Unity through sports”.

The president of PNHD, A Jotham, on the occasion, said that the event was organised with the objective of bringing the community together and helping them get to know one another.

He said that since the community resides in different districts with few opportunities to come together, they believed the event would bring the community closer. It was also informed that the event was sponsored by well-wishers and elders.

During the inaugural programme, greeting was delivered by PJ Shengao, convenor of the sports meet, and a folk song was performed by Poumai Naga Naotoumai Me, Dimapur. This was followed by an exhibition football match between Dimapur Veterans and Chümoukedima Veterans.

Four teams each from Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, and Chaveifii participated in men’s football and women’s volleyball. In the men’s football match, the Niuland team emerged as the winner after defeating Chaveifii 1-0. The winners and runners-up received cash prizes of INR 5,000 and INR 3,000, respectively.

In the women’s volleyball match, the Chümoukedima team won after defeating the Dimapur team in the final. The winners received INR 3,000, while the runners-up were awarded INR 2,000.
