Polling teams dispatched for urban local body polls
DIMAPUR — Polling parties with ballot boxes and polling materials for the urban local body election have been dispatched from the office of the deputy commissioner in the respective districts on Tuesday.
In Kohima, an invocation prayer was said by Rev. Vezopa, president of the Kohima Town Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship, in the presence of election observer, deputy commissioner, ADC of Kohima, returning officer and other polling officials.
Polling teams of all 76 polling stations covering 14 wards under the Kohima Municipal Council have reported their arrival at their respective destinations.
Polling personnel along with election materials for Chumoukedima Town Council (CTC) and Medziphema Town Council (MTC) under Chümoukedima district were also dispatched on Tuesday at the office of the deputy commissioner, Chümoukedima.
The polling teams were dispatched under the supervision of ADC and RO of Chümoukedima, Kuzonyi Wideo, and ADC and RO of Medziphema, James Swu, in the presence of other officials.
CTC with a total of 11 wards will be manned by 96 polling personnel in 24 polling stations, while MTC with a total of 9 wards has 10 polling stations. There are 5 polling stations designated for all women polling stations including two in Medziphema and three in Chumoukedima.
A DIPR report stated that adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process in the district.
