Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Golden Jubilee celebration of North Eastern Council (NEC) at Shillong in Meghalaya, on December18.
According to NEC sources, all members of NEC consisting Union Home minister, DoNER minister, governors and chief ministers of all the north-eastern states, central ministers belonging to NE Region, local MPs and MLAs and nominated members of NEC, will be attending the jubilee celebration, said an update from DPRO Dimapur.
State chief secretaries, selected secretaries of central ministries, senior officers from NEC states and heads of the iconic institutions set up with support from NEC, have also been invited.
‘Golden Footprints’, a commemorative volume chronicling NEC’s contribution towards the development of NEC over the last 50 years, will also be released during the event.
The jubilee is expected to provide a new platform for the NEC for delivering even better in the days to come, for spearheading more development initiatives as was done effectively in the last five decades across the eight north-eastern states.
NEC was established by an Act of Parliament in 1971 and was formally inaugurated on November 7, 1972 at Shillong.
