Planning and development boards across the state hold monthly meetings
DIMAPUR — The district planning and development boards (DPDB) of Longleng and Zunheboto, as well as the sub-divisional planning and development boards (SDPDB) of Pughoboto and Bhandari, held their monthly meetings for October on Tuesday.
Longleng: The Longleng DPDB meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) and vice chairman of DPDB Longleng, W Manpai Phom, at the DPDB hall in Longleng.
During the meeting, new member Rajveer Kumawat, District Information Officer, National Informatics Centre, was introduced. After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the board discussed and deliberated on the agenda, stated a press release.
The agenda included the registration of Phom Lempong Higher Secondary School and Serenity Home, both run by the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA), for which the house recommended the proposal.
The DC also informed the house that the governor may likely visit the district and requested all heads of departments to be prepared. He further informed that the District Disaster Management Longleng (DDML) will be conducting a mock exercise on October 26 and instructed all officers to be in station.
The Department of Water Resources presented its departmental activities in the meeting through a PowerPoint presentation. The chairman entrusted the Department of Education to give its presentation in the next meeting.
Zunheboto: The monthly Zunheboto DPDB meeting was held under the chairmanship of DC Zunheboto Rahul Bhanudas Mali at the DC conference hall in Zunheboto.
The meeting began with a review of the minutes from the previous board meeting, followed by the introduction of new board members to the house.
During the meeting, a PowerPoint presentation from the Department of Forest was given while ADC Zunheboto Keyirangding Hegui appealed to different departments to assist in providing infrastructural developments within their capacity at Ghosü Bird Sanctuary, located in Ghükiye village.
Pughoboto: Ahead of the upcoming inauguration of the new administrative complex at Pughoboto, MLA and chairman of the SDPDB Pughoboto, Dr. Sukhato A Sema, chaired the monthly SDPDB meeting on Tuesday at the DB hall in the ADC office, Pughoboto.
ADC and vice chairman Tiameren Chang reviewed the progress of the various working committees constituted for the inauguration programme of the new administrative complex scheduled for October 16 and emphasised the need for all necessary arrangements to be completed on time.
Meanwhile, considering the low rate of enrolment at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Pughoboto, Chang briefed the house about the sponsorship of students in Class 8 and above to improve school enrolment.
Dr. Sukhato also announced the sponsorship for Class 11 and Class 12 students and encouraged other board members to extend sponsorship to additional students.
The principal of GHSS Pughoboto, Khekaho Achumi, highlighted the commencement of the new school subject ‘Electronics’, which is set to be introduced from Class 9 onwards starting in the academic year 2025.
He also urged the student bodies to help disseminate the importance of the subject to the student community, as it will aid students in learning and developing vocational skills.
Bhandari: The meeting of the SDPDB Bhandari was held at the conference hall of the Summer House-cum-Guest House, Bhandari, with Longasen Lotha, ADC and vice chairman of the SDPDB, chairing the meeting.
During the review of the agenda for follow-up action, C Yanthan, manager of Lead Bank Wokha, briefed on the Chanpang unbanked block. He informed that a joint survey conducted by competent authorities concluded that opening a branch at present is not feasible; therefore, the members decided to revisit the issue in two years.
The house, while deliberating on the recommendation for the recognition of Hangthen village, noted that all documents were in order and resolved to forward the matter to the DC Wokha for necessary action in favour of the recommendation.
The house also emphasised that most offices and official quarters at the Bhandari headquarters are old and in dilapidated condition. It recommended the construction of an office complex in a mini secretariat style to improve accommodation and functionality.
Longasen, while reminding the departments under the Bhandari sub-division to submit statistical reports on manpower and infrastructure of their respective offices, lauded the Electrical department for providing uninterrupted power supply.
After the meeting, the house conducted a tree plantation drive at the Common Cemetery in Bhandari, where a mass social work/cleaning initiative had taken place the previous day.
