The 6th edition of Phek District Inter Departmental Badminton Tournament got underway on August 7 at Phek Town. The Deputy Commissioner Phek, Murohu Chotso graced the inaugural function as the chief guest.
Addressing the inaugural function, the chief guest congratulated the organising committee for organizing the tournament. He acknowleged that the peaceful environment at Phek district has enabled the departments to organise the tournament. The district had faced difficult situation in the past few weeks back due to the shoot out incident and flood due to incessant rain which caused lost of precious lives and properties.
The DC said a tournament such as this is encouraging and he hoped that closer coordination between various departments for better management of the district would be achieved through such activities. He also urged upon the participants to play with a spirit of sportsmanship.
Rev. Alem, pastor Ao Baptist Church Phek invoked God’s blessings for the tournament. The programme was attended by district HoDs, officers and participants. The tournament will continue till August 10.
The tournament is being organised to foster better coordination between different departments and friendship amongst the government servants posted at Phek. A total of 102 players are participating in the tournament, representing various departments.
