DIMAPUR — Phek division of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) conducted a two-day capacity building training on social behaviour change communication (SBCC) and Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) on June 15 and 16.
The training was held at Pfutsero town covering Pfutsero, Chizami and Kikruma block, sponsored by Sanitation and WSSO, PHED Nagaland. An update from the department stated that the participants included WATSAN members, Swachhagrahis, FTK users and implementing support agency (ISA) Kalos Society Pfutsero.
It stated that Abigail Ritse, hygiene and sanitation consultant of PHED, made a powerpoint presentation on social behaviour change communication focusing mainly on water source protection, waste management, gender inclusion, importance of women participation, operation and maintenance and importance of water service fee.
Kethonu Theyo, district chemist, emphasised on the importance of water quality, the harmful effects of contaminated water and the importance of testing water regularly, while Kutulu Vero, district coordinator, highlighted on Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) campaign.
During the training, an animated video on JJM developed by NEIDA, in collaboration with the department, video on JSA ‘Catch the rain, where it falls when it falls’ by Dreams unlimited and water testing video by state chemist were screened.
It informed that villages would carry out activities on JSA at village level as part of Jan Andolan campaign.
