PGC embarks on mission to conserve traditional practices

Dimapur, September 30: A one-day workshop on preservation of folklore and traditional practices was held in Peletkie village under Peren district on September 29 with support from Research, Consultancy & Extension Cell of Peren Government College, Peren.

Apart from Peletkie villagers, the workshop was well attended by the faculty members and students of Peren Government College.

Folklores of Peletkie village, traditional practices and customary laws of the village, talks on genesis of the village and Peletkie Salt spring as one of the mainstay of the village economy were presented by a panel of resource persons including Ariang, Hangchiam, Wilamke, Teiriesong, Apun and Reluibuing.

The workshop was chaired by Yechi Vero, Assistant Professor, and moderated by Dr. Changneu Ndang, Assistant Professor, and Ms Kangyichule Hegui, Assistant Professor, while the vice principal of Peren Government College, Albert proposed the vote of thanks.

If may be noted that Peren Government College has adopted Peletkie village for the year 2016-2017 during which period various programmes are proposed to be undertaken in the village. The college also proposed to publish a book on Peletkie village by the second half of 2017.
