People told to be fearless in exploring emerging technologies
DIMAPUR — Advisor of Information Technology and Communication (IT&C) and Economics and Statistics, Sethrongkyu Sangtam, has urged to embrace the spirit of pioneers and be fearless in the pursuit for knowledge as the people embark on the expedition into the unexplored realms of emerging technologies.
Elaborating on the boundless opportunities offer by emerging technologies, he stated that the digital frontier invites everyone to think beyond conventional boundaries and reimagining what is possible. He added that it challenged to consider not only the advancements that benefit the people today but also leave the legacy for generations to come.
Sangtam stated this during the 9th edition of Naga e-summit 2023 held at the conference hall of the Directorate of Information and Technology and Communication in Kohima on Thursday on the theme “Digital frontier: Exploring opportunities in emerging tech,” stated a DIPR report.
Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, Sangtam mentioned that in a fast-evolving landscape of the digital age, the link between governance and technology is more critical than ever. He also underlined the profound impact that technologies could have on the lives of citizens, growth of economy and the overall well-being of the society.
He added that the theme of the day’s event encapsulated not just the spirit of innovation but also the responsibility to harness the opportunities that emerge on the digital frontier for the greater good.
Even as they engage in conversations, share insights and envision the future together, he encouraged to not only see challenges but to recognise them as opportunities in disguise.
“In the digital frontier, obstacles are invitations to innovate and setbacks are stepping stones to success,” he said.
He also commended the Information Technology Department for fostering an environment where dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing thrive. He further reminded to remember that the collective efforts today would shape the narrative of progress for generations to come as they explore the opportunities on the digital frontier.
Delivering the keynote address, the director of IT and C, Sabou Yashü, stated that the digital frontier is not just a metaphorical landscape but a tangible and dynamic realm where breakthrough in technology are redefining the way people live, work, and connect. As the people stands on the brink of this frontier, he stated that it was crucial to recognise the immense opportunities that lie ahead.
He mentioned that one of the defining features of the digital frontier was its inclusivity– frontier of ideas, daring ventures, bold endeavours, a call to explore, innovate and collaborate.
“Emerging technologies have the potential to bridge gaps, eliminate barriers, and create a more interconnected world from artificial intelligence to block chain, from virtual reality to quantum computing, these technologies are not just tools but enablers of progress,” Yashü said.
He stated that responsible development and deployment of emerging technologies are imperative to ensure that the benefits are widespread and that no one is left behind. Besides, he also urged fostering an environment that encourages innovation while safeguarding privacy, security, and fundamental rights of an individual.
As a technical department, he stated that it has always been the desire to bring entrepreneurs, start ups, innovators under one roof where they could sit together, listen to one another, share ideas, augment one another, know each other, encourage one another and exchange ideas for a better future.
