Pelevizo wins HIPFEST photography competition

Keduosie-ü Metha along with Dzüvinuo Theünuo and Myingthungo Ababe Ezung and the winners of HIPFEST photography competition at Kisama on Saturday.

DIMAPUR — Pelevizo Meyase from Khonoma was declared winner of the HIPFEST photography competition in the individual category. He was awarded cash prize of INR 40,000.

Atam Wangsa from Mon and Duvo Ruho from Phek won the second and third prizes respectively. They received cash prize of 25,000 and INR 15,000. The prize for the best landscape was awarded to Morotsung Longchar, while the prize for the best portrait was awarded to Muchi Domeh. They received cash prize of INR 10,000 each.

Winners were awarded during the prize distribution organised by Portrait Enterprise, in association with the Department of Information and Public Relations and Department of Tourism, held at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on Saturday. The HIPFEST competition was organised on the theme “The nature canvas-celebrating the beauty of Nagaland.”

Prizes were given away by the director of Tourism, Keduosie-ü Metha, in presence of the Director of Films, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, GOI, Armstrong Pame, stated a DIPR report.

In her short speech, the director of Information and Public Relations, Dzüvinuo Theünuo, thanked the judges and proprietor of Portrait Enterprise, Myingthungo Ababe Ezung for making the event a success. She informed that Hornbill International Photography Festival (HIPFEST) is organised every year by the department as part of the Hornbill Festival.

Describing photography as an art, she urged to keep on taking images to keep the passion alive.

Proprietor of Portrait Enterprise, Ababe Ezung stressed on the importance of up scaling the present HIPFEST to that of an international level in the coming edition. He thanked the participants and the IPR department for supporting the event and expressed optimism that many more participants would take part in the competition in the coming years.

Altogether, 84 participants have participated in the competition
