DIMAPUR, MARCH 26
FOREST and Border Affairs minister Y Patton appealed to Nagas living in Karbi Anglong-Dimapur border areas to refrain from any provocative activities. He requested them to maintain ‘status quo’ in the larger interest of people living in the two states. The people were also told that with the border dispute case lying in Supreme Court, the matter is sub-judice but expected to be heard in the month of July.
His visit to assess the law and order situation follows recent skirmishes which compelled the Dimapur district administration to promulgate 144 CrPC in the areas. The areas include Indisen, Dikhoi and Rilan where reports of clashes over allegations of encroachment were reported as recently as last week.
Border Affairs Joint Secretary A Robin Lotha and Under Secretary Temsuwati Longkumer, DIG (Border) Bendang Lemtur, Chief Wildlife Warden SP Tripathi, DFO Dimapur YM Jami, DC Dimapur N Hushili Sema and SP Dimapur VZ Angami accompanied the minister.
