Onus on parliament to solve Naga issue – Nienu

Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): Leader of NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo Nienu, on Thursday asserted that if the central government is sincere to solve the Naga political issue, then it should table the same in the ongoing winter Parliament session.

Nienu said if the Naga issue is tabled in the Parliament session, then the upcoming state general election maybe withhold and will not be held as scheduled. However, if the Naga issue is not tabled in the winter session, then the election is imminent, he said.

The NPF leader was addressing the 50th golden jubilee celebration of Kutsapo Sports’ Association (KSA) as the chief guest, stated an update issued by NPF press bureau.

Nienu demanded that before the final inking of the decade old Naga political issue, the common draft of the agreement between the Naga political groups and the government of India should be placed to public domain for public consumption.

He also maintained that if the central government is serious in bringing a practical solution to the Naga political issue, then it should not hesitate or prolong but deliver justice to the Naga people at the earliest.

The NPF leader further asserted that the NPF is committed to facilitate in bringing a final solution to the Naga political issue, which is honourable, acceptable and inclusive and that the priority of the party is for early settlement to the Naga political problem.

He said the present UDA partners are committed towards bringing solution and not election.

Exhorting the gathering on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebration, Nienu said jubilee is a time of celebration but that it should be also a time to reconcile, forget and forgive and let bygones be bygones.

He exhorted the games and sports contingents to put God first and that they should be sincere and dedicated in their respective field of activities in order to reach the highest level.

The deputy commissioner of Phek, Kumar Ramnikant; Phek superintendent of police, Bharat Laxman Markad; and commandant of 5th NAP, Y Ngullie; also greeted the gathering.
