Onsite training on FoSTaC held at CMO Dimapur

DIMAPUR — The Food Safety Cell, Dimapur Zone, under the establishment of the Chief Medical Office (CMO) Dimapur, conducted three-day onsite training on Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC), which concluded on September 4.

The training was conducted in pursuance of Section 16 (3) (h) of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, where the food authority is mandated to provide training programmes in food safety and standards to persons involved in food businesses, whether as food business operators, employees or otherwise, stated a press release issued by the designated officer (Food Safety), CMO Dimapur.

Anup Kumar Tewari, certified FoSTaC trainer from M/s. Aroma Shiksha Evam Seva Samiti, Korba, Chhattisgarh, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) empanelled training partner, was the lead trainer during the three-day programme.

Over a hundred Food Business Operators (FBOs) from various food manufacturing units, food catering, and food retail units were trained in five batches with approximately 20 FBOs in each batch.

The areas covered were Pherima and Jharnapani on Sept. 2, while on Aug. 3 and the 4th, the training covered FBOs from Dimapur and Chümoukedima areas.

Objectives of the training:

  • To enhance the availability of skilled/trained manpower in the food industry.
  • Creating an improved environment of self compliance to Food Safety and Standards Act, Rules and Regulations by the responsible food businesses.
  • Bringing a behavioural change and inculcating a culture of food safety in the country.
  • Awareness in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GHP (Good Hygienic Practices) in food business operation.

The food business operators who attended the training programme were registered under the FoSTaC portal whereby they will receive FoSTaC training certificate after assessment by the training partners.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of the designated officer of Food Safety, Dimapur Zone, Samuel Zehol and his team from Food Safety Cell, CMO office, Dimapur.
