Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): Keeping up the tempo of the ongoing crackdown, Assam Rifles under DAO DIVISION undertook an operation in Khonsa Town of Tirap District on 25 April and apprehended Wanglam Pansa at Alam who was terrorizing and extorting money from Khonsa Town, reported through a press release.
It further stated that the over ground worker was nabbed with a pistol and ammunition. During interrogation he revealed that he was tasked by an NSCN (K) cadre to carry out extortion from Government departments of Khonsa Town. The Security Forces has been carrying out aggressive operations in the South Arunchal Pradesh and this apprehension has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area. This operation has tightened the noose around the group and has brought relief to the local population. Assam Rifles once again truly stood by their motto “Friends of the north east People”.
