Dimapur, August 31 (EMN): Cyber Crime Police Station, PHQ, Kohima, arrested one person for posting sexually explicit/obscene picture of a girl on Facebook.
According to PRO PHQ, M Tungoe, the accused and the victim were known to each other from Facebook and had developed a relationship. Later, suspecting the victim of having other relationships, the accused posted intimate pictures taken while they were together.
The PRO further warned that under IT Act 2008, publishing or transmitting of sexually explicit act/obscene picture in electronic form is a punishable offence with a minimum of 3 years imprisonment and up to Rs 5 lakhs fine. In many social media groups of State including Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter etc., it has been observed that such posting/forwarding/copy pasting of sexually explicit/obscene material is being done randomly.
Hence, public are advised to refrain from posting/ forwarding/ copy pasting any such materials in electronic form as it will attract penalty.
