Dimapur: One person was killed and two others grievously injured in a road accident on Thursday at Chumoukedima.
The accident occurred around 11:04 am.
According to the police, a Baleno car rammed into the rear end of a Piaggio Auto, near JCB showroom at 6th Mile, Chumoukedima.
The impact pushed the auto to the left side of the road, and the driver was propelled out of the auto to the left side. The driver sustained head injuries, and died on the spot, the police report said.
The Baleno had also rammed into a footpath railing.
The driver of the Baleno and co-passenger (his wife) were also grievously injured and were rushed to Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research, 4th Mile for treatment.
Later, the deceased was identified as Abdul Malik (45), a resident of Burma Camp, Dimapur.
The deceased is survived by his two wives and two children aged between 10 — 12 years, the update read.
The body was handed over to his family members upon refusal of post mortem after observing all necessary legal formalities.
The incident has been recorded under relevant provision of law at Chumoukedima Traffic Control and is under further enquiry, it added.
