Oil palm farmers in Tizit get machinery to boost production

DIMAPUR— The Department of Agriculture under SDAO Tizit held a machinery distribution programme for oil palm farmers under NMEO-OP 2023-24 on July 11, with SDO (Civil) Tizit, Tumben Tsanglao as special guest.

In his address, Tsanglao encouraged the farmers to sincerely maintain the fields as per the guidelines and increase the Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) production, an update stated.

He also urged the farmers to take opportunity to enhance and increase the area of oil palm cultivation through support of the department and the concerned company Patanjali.

Myanthung Patton, SDAO of Tizit, in his keynote address, said that the department is leaving no stone unturned to assist and support the oil palm farmers through financial, machinery and other requisite inputs.

The tolls and machines distributed included 6 HP water pump, brush cutters, harvester, power tillers, brush cutter with attachments, pruning tools and fungicides.

Progressive oil palm farmers Honlem and Tongpong thanked the department on behalf of the farmers. Representatives from the Patanjali Company also attended the programme.

The programme was chaired by Chingin Konyak, AO, the update informed.
