DIMAPUR — Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Zunheboto, under the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, government of India, celebrated Yuva Utsav at Cornerstone Higher Secondary School on May 25 with the deputy commissioner (DC) of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, as the special guest on the theme “Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal.”

Speaking on the occasion, the DC explained about Yuva Utsav and reminded the declaration made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2022, that the next 25 years (2022-2047) would be ‘golden years,’ where India would continue to develop rapidly.

He stated that the youth today are doing very well in every field and cited the example on the recently declared class 10 and class 12 results where the students have done very well, while four Naga youth have also passed the UPSC exams. He encouraged the students to do well not only in studies but also learn employable skills so that they would not be dependent on others in future, stated a DIPR report.

While reminding that there are many bad things in the society such as alcohol and drugs etc., the DC stated that it depend on oneself whether to choose the bad or good. Observing that many youth are addicted to mobiles phones, he advised the students to not use mobile phones now but concentrate on studies and skill developing activities.

Delivering a short speech, the additional superintendent of police, Zunheboto, Vekhrolo Kosa, encouraged the students and teachers to focus on co-curricular activities. He also encouraged them to update their skill in order to compete with others.

The programme was chaired by Zakato L Zhimomi, NYKS Zunheboto, while the welcome address was delivered by Tokavi Swu, managing director of Cornerstone Higher Secondary School, and the keynote address was delivered by P Rebecca Rangnamei, DYO of NYKS, Zunheboto.

Speech on skill development was delivered by Priyanka Kumari, MGNF.

Report stated that students have competed in different activities like cultural items, declamation, painting, poetry and mobile photography contest during the programme.
