He also stated that cultivating and promoting moral values of integrity in all aspects is essential for building a better society. He called upon to stigmatise the culture of corruption, favouritism and nepotism. He defined corruption as a dishonest or unethical conduct by a person, which is a global phenomenon affecting all strata of society in some way or the other.
Savi stated that corruption in Nagaland is a matter of serious concern. He has attributed lack of infrastructure development in the state due to corruption adding that almost all the projects were never completed within the stipulated time. Besides, he also claimed that due to poor workmanship and poor quality of works, the road condition remained deplorable, bridges falling apart, government building especially schools and offices are in bad condition.
Savi also lambasted the practice of commission deduction from the project funds in the name of ‘party fund,’ department charges and payment made to several other groups.
“Every year the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) tabled report before the session of Nagaland Legislative Assembly detecting huge crore of rupees been misappropriated by several departments but no action and just got disappeared in the court of Accounts Committee,” Savi stated.
