NVBDCP review malaria scenario in the state

Dimapur, April 19 (EMN): The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) state review meeting was held on April 19 at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Kohima, under the chairmanship of Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, State Programme Officer. Dr.Meguosilie Kire, Director (Family Welfare) welcomed the gathering and informed the gathering that there has been a paradigm shift in the State malaria scenario and that it was not about control and prevention of malaria anymore but about elimination of malaria by 2030.
‘Though it seems ambitious, it is possible with the commitment and hard work of the staff’, he added.
He also urged the gathering to be in their posting places and to put their mind and soul in all their activities to achieve elimination.
Senior Entomologists, Atu Longkumer presented on vector control, mosquito behaviour and vector scenario in the state. All the participating districts also presented presentations on NVBDCP activities and malaria scenario in their respective districts. Observations were made on the district presentation and feedbacks given to improve their performance.
Closing remark was delivered by Dr.L.A Singh, Sr. Regional Director, Regional Office Health and Family Welfare, Imphal.
District Vector Borne officers, consultants, entomologists, epidemiologists and IDSP officials attended the meeting along with the state officials.
