NVBDCP Kohima conducts anti-malaria activities in multiple blocks
DIMAPUR — The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Kohima observed Anti-Malaria Month in the Jakhama, Chiephobozou, Tseminyu, Sechu, and Chunlika blocks throughout June.
The theme for the event was ‘Time to deliver zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement’.
A press release by District Vector Borne Officer Dr. Kevilhoulie Meyase stated that various activities were conducted in seven villages across seven blocks in the Kohima district. Similar activities are planned for additional villages within the district.
Malaria technical supervisors, surveillance workers, and accredited social health activists (ASHAs) from various blocks conducted the activities alongside the district consultants, assistant malaria officers, malaria inspectors, and vector borne disease officers.
The activities included advocacy and dissemination of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials, campaigns on the proper use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), and social mobilisation efforts using the public address (PA) system.
It was stated that the public was made aware of waste management and the prevention of water stagnation. Additionally, free malaria tests were conducted, and no malaria cases were detected during the screening.
