DIMAPUR — The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Nagaland University (NU) organised a one-day workshop titled ‘Understanding the importance of altmetrics in research’ at the conference hall of the Department of Chemistry, on September 18.
Aimed at faculty and scholars from NU Lumami Campus, the event featured Dr. Pranay Punj Pankaj, associate professor in the Department of Zoology, as the resource person. The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from a total of 90 attendees, stated PRO, NU in a press release.
“Altmetrics are a set of metrics used to measure the broader impact of research and scholarly work online, offering an alternative to traditional citation-based metrics.
“They help researchers track how their work is being discussed, shared, and engaged with by the public, academics, and other audiences through social media, news outlets, blogs, and other online platforms,” the release stated.
Among others, the workshop was attended by Prof. Dipak Sinha, director of IQAC, HoDs, faculty, staff and students.
