NU hosts national workshop on crafting qualitative research
Students and faculty members of Nagaland University during the national workshop on crafting qualitative research organised by the Department of Sociology, NU.

DIMAPUR — A two-day national workshop on crafting qualitative research organised by the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University (NU), in collaboration with the Indian Sociological Society, commenced on March 27 at NU Lumami campus, Zunheboto.

According to an update from PRO in-charge of Nagaland University, the workshop is tailored for young research scholars in the field of social sciences.

Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof. Jagdish K Patnaik, the chief guest of the inaugural session, in his address, underscored the contemporary significance of mastering qualitative research methodologies.

Prof. Athungo Ovung, head of the Department of Sociology, NU, who delivered the introductory remarks, emphasised on the pivotal theme of the workshop.

Adding a cultural touch to the event, a special song was presented by the Fusion Group, comprising research scholars from Nagaland University.

The inaugural session of the workshop, chaired by Prof. Temjensosang, associate professor at the Department of Sociology, NU, concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Dr. Dipika Paul.

Following the inaugural session, the workshop proceeded with four technical sessions, each featuring distinguished resource persons.

The technical sessions provided invaluable insights into qualitative research methodologies, with contributions from Prof. Toshimenla Jamir, Prof. Maitrayee Chaudhury, Prof. Somenath Bhattacharjee and Dr. Sandeep Gupta, all faculty members of Nagaland University.

“The workshop aims to equip young scholars with essential skills and knowledge required for conducting qualitative research effectively. It serves as a platform for fostering academic exchange and collaboration within the realm of social sciences,” the update stated.
