Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): In a move towards a cleaner and greener town, the Niuland Town Council (NTC) initiated a ‘Freedom from garbage’ campaign by organising a workshop on scientific management of waste.
According to an official report, administrator of Niuland Town Council, T. Lemlila Sangtam, in her address during the campaign said, “Because we believe, together we can and together we will.” The objective of the campaign is to create attitudinal and habitual change among the people towards sanitation, hygiene and waste management.
The workshop focused on promoting source-level composting of bio-degradable waste and managing dry waste through systematic collection, storage and channelising for recycling.
The workshop ended with enrolment of campaign volunteers for follow-up, it stated.
