NSSB viva-voce issue: Student unions extend support to NSF
DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU), Rengma Students’ Union (RSU), Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN), Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), and Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) extended support to the NSF’s demand for reduction of marks for viva voce in the Nagaland Staff selection Board (NSSB) examination.
Reiterating its stand on the resolution adopted at the 4th Presidential Council Meeting of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the ANCSU said it extended support towards the Federation for any democratic agitation if the state government fails to address the matter on “utmost priority” of reducing viva-voce component in all categories to 5% of the total marks as against the proposed 12.5%.

“Further, the union finds that 12.5% marks allocation for a viva-voce personal interview would only invite bias in the CSRE,” it read.
The RSU reiterated its stand on the resolution adopted at the 4th Presidential Council Meeting of NSF.
It said it would boycott the personal interview of the CSRE 2022 until the authorities address the “legitimate demand” of the students. Further, the RSU requested all its members, who will be appearing for viva-voce to abstain from reporting for the said examination.
The RSU said it was “appalled at the lackadaisical attitude” of the concerned department to uphold the interest of the students despite the genuine demand made by the Federation.
ZSUN said it stands firm on the genuine demands of the NSF and “will go for any means of democratic agitation for boycotting the personal interview”.
The ZSUN appealed to the successful aspirants to avoid appearing for the said interview.
The LSU, while extending support to NSF, expressed displeasure over the “irrational attitude” of the concerned department that, despite the genuine demand put forth by the federation to uphold the interest of the students.
“LSU will not remain mute spectator and remind the concerned authorities that it will not hesitate to stand and fight for the rights of the students,” it read. The union also extended its support and co-operation to the NSF in the event of any kind of democratic agitation or any course of action in a peaceful democratic manner.
AKM said the union stands with the decision of NSF in the interest of the aspirants. The union also said it will extend full cooperation in the event of any kind of democratic agitation undertaken by NSF.
While seeking a sensible analysis of the demand put forward by the apex student body (NSF), AKM requested all the aspirants who have qualified for the viva-voice to cooperate with the students’ bodies.
CSU said it “strongly supports” the NSF’s demand, which had been resolved during the 4th NSF Presidential meeting.
“For any society to advance socially, politically and economically, there should be an equal representation from four corners with meritocracy ruling out favouritism, nepotism or political influence in the matters of employment to public office,” CSU stated.
