KOHIMA, AUGUST 31

THE Nagaland SSA Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) has asked the State government for immediate release of its four months pending salaries.
The SSA Teachers, in a release today, said inspite of repeated appeals and endurance towards the deaf and unresponsive attitude of the responsible authorities, they have been patient till date.
The NSSATA has also questioned the “Nagas” in general, as to;
1. Were the SSA Teachers not appointed through competitive examination and through proper channel?
2. Do you consider us as teachers?
3. What wrong have we done to deserve such discriminations on grounds of salary payment, conversion of GT’s to PGT’s and other unfavorable service conditions?
4. Why have some of our own people quoted us along with illegal recruits as “illegal appointees and SSA recruits”?
5. How many times have the DoSE conducted Open Competitive Examination for Teacher’s recruitment?
“We are proud to be called “SSA Teachers”. We don’t consider ourselves to be the best but we believe to be among the best class of teachers. We were appointed through open written and oral examination. We did not receive our appointments from our father, uncle or any close relatives. It was not a gift from any earthlings but it was out of sheer merit and effort. The SSA Teachers inspite of all these have borne through all the criticisms and discriminations,” the release maintained.
Stating that Teachers’ Day celebration is at hand and preparations are at its full throttle, the NSSATA maintained that they along with other teachers with as much “Respect for Teachers” will be celebrating it like the good times of the Jewish when they flourished under Adolf Hitler.
